What Is the Digital World
Purpose
The Digital World is a layered, human-first digital system designed to let individuals, families, businesses, communities, and jurisdictions operate digitally without being forced into platform custody of identity, data, or value.
What Layer 0 Is
Layer 0 defines the standards that constrain and align every other layer. It is the source of:
- System definitions
- System boundaries
- System invariants
- System interoperability rules
Layer 0 is not a product and does not process user transactions. It is the reference rulebook the rest of the system must follow.
What Layer 0 Protects
Layer 0 protects people by making it structurally difficult for any layer above to:
- Convert humans into accounts
- Convert rights into permissions
- Convert ownership into access
- Convert the system into a platform
What Layer 0 Does Not Do
Layer 0 does not:
- Issue identity
- Store user data
- Move money
- Define asset terms
- Approve apps
- Run governance decisions
It constrains those layers instead.
